Info

Your son/daughter is invited to attend a physics class field trip to Wilmot Mountain Tubing Hill in Wilmot, Wisconsin, on Thursday, January 23rd.  The field trip is intended to provide students with a set of real-life examples of mechanics, a major portion of the physics curriculum.  Students will make actual measurements and calculations at the park and on the bus ride there and back related to energy conversion, momentum, kinematics, forces, and power.

Wilmot Mountain is a reputable ski and tubing facility run by Vail Resorts.  We will be confined to the portion of the park for tubing only. No ski or snowboarding experience is necessary for any of the students attending this trip.  More information about this park can be found at the following web address:

https://www.wilmotmountain.com/explore-the-resort/activities-and-events/snow-tubing.aspx  The trip will be made on a District 155 school bus, leaving Central at 9:00 AM.  Buses will arrive back at school around 2:00 PM.  Students are projected to be out of class for 3rd-8th periods that day.

The cost to each student for a park entrance ticket and busing will be $39.00.  Helmet rental is optional and available for an additional $14.00.  If you would like this option, it also will be paid for on RevTrak.  In order to attend the field trip, all students must turn in payment and fill out an online District 155 field trip permission slip through RevTrak at the following link:

 https://chsd155.revtrak.net/RW-CLCHS-Academics/

While at this website you will need to first click on the “CLC Field Trips” link, second click “25-Wilmot Mountain Field Trip”, and third click “Register for this Class” in order to start the registration process.

In addition, the attached Wilmot Mountain Liability Waiver must be filled out, signed by a parent, and returned to a physics teacher at CLC.  The deadline for each of these to be completed is Monday, January 13th at 3:00 PM.

The park’s concession stand will be available for students to snack or eat lunch.  The concession stand will accept cashless payment (credit/debit and ApplePay).  For a more economical option, students may bring their own lunch and water bottle with them on the trip.

Students not able to go on the field trip due to other school commitments on January 23rd will be required to do an alternative assignment to equal the work students on the field trip will do.

Please call me at school (815-459-2505 vm 2317) or email me at bstrombom@d155.org if you have any questions about the field trip or about anything regarding your child’s progress in physics!

 Sincerely,
